FILIAL PLAY THERAPY

Filial Play Therapy is suitable for assessing and addressing relationship difficulties between children and their parents/carers.

Parents/carers are given basic play therapy skills and work with their child under the supervision of the therapist. Regular filial therapy play sessions give parents/carers and children a different way of communicating and increase understanding and empathy.

This is a very useful intervention in families where there has been a lot of disruption due to issues such as separation and divorce, illness or bereavement and in adoption and long-term fostering placements where children have attachment difficulties.
